Sheldon woke before dawn. He went back to the garage, but this time he didn't press the power button. He opened the case. He removed every SIMM module. He placed them on the workbench in order: 1, 2, 3, 4.
"I know." George shrugged. "But it got me through the night. Sometimes, Shel, things don't have a clean answer. Sometimes the parts just don't go back the way they came out. You fix what you can, and you let the rest go."
Mary squinted at the screen. "Is that bad?"
Missy appeared, less interested in the computer and more interested in the dramatic potential. "Is he gonna cry?"
"Lossless," he whispered again.
Sheldon's head snapped up. "The manual was wrong?"
"I am experiencing a catastrophic hardware failure, Mom. Colossus won't post."
