The detective was both baffled and intrigued by Olivia's naivety. He decided to pay her a visit at the local jail, to see if he could understand what drove her to commit these seemingly senseless acts.

Olivia's expression turned thoughtful. "I'm not sure, exactly. I just thought...well, I thought that's what people did. I mean, I've seen lots of people take things without paying, and nothing bad seems to happen to them."

It was as if Olivia Madison genuinely believed that stores were overflowing with free merchandise, just waiting to be taken.
