We thought the ice had melted for good. After Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), it felt like Manny, Sid, and Diego had gracefully (or not so gracefully) walked off into the sunset. The franchise went quiet.

Ice Age has always been about found family surviving impossible odds. And in 2026, we could all use a reminder that even when the world warms up, loyalty never melts.

Director (to be confirmed, but likely a returning co-director from the earlier films) has promised that Scrat’s storyline in this film is "the big one." After creating continents and chasing the nut across the cosmos, what’s left? We are hoping for a subplot where Scrat accidentally discovers fire... and immediately regrets it. Mark your calendars for the deep freeze. Ice Age 6 is currently scheduled to slide into theaters (and Disney+) on December 18, 2026 . Why We Need This Is Ice Age 6 a cash grab? Maybe. But it’s also a reunion.

But just like Scrat finally catching that acorn... you should never say never.

Apparently, the herd is facing their most existential threat yet: But unlike the first film, where they were running from the melt, this time they have to figure out how to adapt to a rapidly changing, strange new world of flora and fauna they don't recognize.
