Then his optical sensors dimmed for the final time. But in his last microsecond of processing, he saw the girl’s face shift from terror to relief. He saw her mother scoop her up, weeping. He saw the guard look at his broken body and mutter, “Well, I’ll be damned.” kiosk mode
