An anterior ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) results from acute occlusion of the left anterior descending artery (LAD) —often called the widow-maker artery. The LAD perfuses a substantial portion of the left ventricle (LV): the entire anterior wall, the anteroseptal wall, the apex, and often parts of the lateral wall.
