The music warps first. The iconic synth bass drags like honey through a modem. Each kick drum lands a half-second after the visual cue. My cube jerks forward, then hiccups —rubber-banding across a sawblade I swear I already cleared.

Orange orbs float past, but their timing rings hollow. I jump. The proxy echoes my input twice: once as hope, once as history.
