If you’re a new driver in Ontario, passing the G1 written test is your first major milestone. The official test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions (20 on road signs, 20 on rules of the road). However, the best way to prepare is to study a bank of at least 200 practice questions that cover every possible topic.
11. What is the maximum speed limit in a municipality (city/town) unless posted? 50 km/h. 12. When can you legally pass on the right? When the vehicle ahead is turning left and there’s a paved shoulder or lane. 13. What is the blind spot ? Areas not visible in your mirrors, usually beside and behind your vehicle. 14. When approaching a stopped school bus with red lights flashing , you must: Stop at least 20 meters away and wait until lights stop flashing. 15. What is the two-second rule ? Safe following distance under ideal conditions. 16. Who has the right-of-way at an uncontrolled intersection? The vehicle that arrives first; if at the same time, the vehicle on the right. 17. What is the legal BAC (blood alcohol concentration) limit for fully licensed drivers 22+? Under 0.08% (zero tolerance for G1/G2 drivers). 18. When must you use low beam headlights ? 30 minutes before sunset to 30 minutes after sunrise, and in fog/rain/snow. 19. What does a solid green light mean? Go, but yield to pedestrians and vehicles already in the intersection. 20. When parking downhill with a curb , turn your front wheels: Toward the curb.
