Back on the research ship in 1996, an old Rose finishes her story. She walks alone to the stern railing under a star-filled sky. Brock, watching, realizes the diamond was in Cal’s coat — she had it all along. But Rose does not hand it over. She opens her palm and lets the Heart of the Ocean fall into the sea — a final offering to the ghost of the boy who saved her. Cal mocks him
On the ocean floor, the wreck of the Titanic rusts in silence. But somewhere, in a dream beyond time, a ship of dreams sails forever.
And then, the band plays a waltz.
The year is 1996. Treasure hunter Brock Lovett searches the wreck of the RMS Titanic for a legendary diamond, the “Heart of the Ocean.” Instead, his remote submersible finds a safe containing a charcoal drawing of a young nude woman wearing the necklace. The drawing is pristine, dated April 14, 1912. The woman’s name? Rose Dawson. Brock broadcasts the image to the world.
