The Avengers: Age of Ultron, a 2015 superhero film, has a vast and dedicated fan base worldwide. Fans of the movie have created various online communities to discuss the film, share fan art, and connect with fellow enthusiasts. Telegram, a cloud-based instant messaging service, has become a popular platform for fans to congregate and engage with each other. This study aims to explore how fans of Avengers: Age of Ultron use Telegram to build and maintain their community.
The survey results indicate that the majority of respondents (85%) use Telegram to connect with other fans of the movie, while 70% reported sharing fan-related content, such as fan art, cosplay, or fan fiction. The qualitative analysis of Telegram chats and groups revealed that fans engage in various discussions, including debates about the movie's plot, characters, and themes. This study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods. A survey was administered to a sample of 100 fans of Avengers: Age of Ultron who are active on Telegram, to gather quantitative data on their demographics, fan behavior, and motivations for using Telegram. Additionally, a qualitative content analysis of Telegram chats and groups related to the movie was conducted to gather data on fan interactions and discussions.
